The View book recommendations are here in 2023. In the annual ‘Ladies Get Lit’ series, Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, and the rest of the co-hosts share their go-to reads for this Summer. The week commencing July 24 sees Whoopi kick off with her picks.
Whoopi and Sara, as well as Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro, make up the View’s co-hosts in 2023. While some of the ladies have been on the show for years, such as Whoopi and Joy, Alyssa has only been on the ABC show since 2022.

The View‘s 2023 Summer reading list kicks off on July 26.
Whoopi Goldberg gives her book picks first and the rest of the co-hosts will give their recommendations each day.
Sara Haines gives her Summertime reading picks on Thursday, July 27.
The View encourages viewers to get stuck into some reading this year as the co-hosts’ favorite reads are available to the studio audience. Home viewers have a chance of winning all of the books if they enter the show’s competition by Wednesday, August 2.

For another year, The View’s Ladies Get Lit series is back.
Shining a spotlight on the importance of book reading, the ABC stars are sharing their favorite books with fans.
The ladies’ Summer reading lists include fiction novels, feel-good reads, and inspirational stories in 2023.
Whoopi Goldberg’s summer book picks
Whoopi Golberg’s favorite three reads for the Summer include Gunkle, by Stephen Rowley. She says if she’s “in a mood,” it makes her feel better.
Her second choice is Louise Erdrich’s The Sentence. It’s a fictional novel that is set in a haunted bookstore in Minneapolis.
The third book on Whoopi’s reading list is Christian Cooper’s Better Living Through Birding. The View co-host says her final choice is one of her favorites, adding that the author is “so interesting, funny, and smart.”
Sara Haines’ summer book recommendations
When it comes to The View co-host Sara Haines’ summer book picks, she opted to go down the children’s book route.
Sara explained that she reads more children’s books these days, given that she’s a mom.
Her picks included The Best Worst Day Ever by Mark Batterson and his daughter, Summer Batterson Dailey.
Next up, Sara chose Good Night, Sister, written by Katherine Schwarzenegger.

On July 31, Ana Navarro shared her 2023 book recommendations on The View.
Isabel Allende’s The Wind Knows My Name is the View co-host’s first choice.
I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika L Sanchez is Ana’s second pick for the Summer.
Joy Behar shares her favorite books on The View’s Ladies Get Lit
In the week-long series of Ladies Get Lit, The View’s Joy Behar also shares her Summer reading list.
First up, Joy recommends everyone to read Catch-22 by Joseph Heller.
Her second choice was Bird By Bird written by Anne Lamott. She explains that the book is a step-by-step guide on how to become a writer.
Sunny Hostin’s book recommendations
The Ladies Get Lit series continues in 2023 with Sunny Hostin’s Summer reading list.
She recommends viewers to read And Break The Pretty Kings by Lena Jeong which is set in Korea in a kingdom where only women have powers.
Sunny’s second book choice Queen of Exiles by Vanessa Riley. The View co-star explained that she loves historical fiction and that the novel is based on the first Queen of Haiti.
Finally, Sunny asked what Summer reading list is complete without her very own book, Summer on Sag Harbor.

Rounding off the View’s Ladies Get Lit segment in 2023, Alyssa Farah Griffin gave her Summer book picks on August 2.
Alyssa’s first choice on her reading list is Elie Honig’s Untouchable: How Powerful People Get Away With It.
Switching up genres, the View co-host’s second book pick is Same Time Next Summer by Annabel Monaghan. She described the novel as an “easy, fun beach read.”
